As summer continues, August is the perfect time to hit the streets with our cameras. This month, we’ll be focusing on the art of street photography: capturing the vibrant and candid moments that define urban life. Whether it’s the lively energy of bustling city streets, quiet corners filled with character, or the stories told through the faces of passersby, street photography offers endless opportunities to explore and express creativity.

Spotlight on Norman Schwartz: A Timeless Eye for Street Photography
We’re excited to feature the work of Norman Schwartz, an 88-year-old street photographer with remarkable talent and creativity. Norman recently participated in a photography workshop in Los Angeles, led by our instructor Hans Gutknecht, and shared some of his candid street captures from the experience.
Norm’s photography is renowned for capturing everyday moments with a unique and powerful touch. As he describes in his artist statement, “The venues are commonplace, but the compositions are unique. In many, the subjects are unaware the lens is focused upon them, producing powerful portrayals. The viewer’s imagination becomes the reality of what transpired at the click of the shutter.”
We invite you to explore some of Norman’s compelling images from his recent workshop. According to him, the blur of people was intentional to depict their motion.

Multi-Day Photography Workshops via Dave Rhodes
We’re excited to feature Dave Rhodes and his Wild Photo Adventure workshops!
With over 30 years of experience, Dave offers unique workshops that combine travel, hands-on learning, and the beauty of nature. His most recent workshop took photographers to the historic Bodie Ghost Town and Mono Lake, where they captured exclusive shots of this abandoned mining town and its stunning landscapes.
Alongside his workshops, Dave leads Dave Rhodes & Associates, LLC, an independent sales rep agency specializing in the photography and consumer electronics industries.

Valley of Fire State Park Photo Workshop
Dates: Coming Soon | Location: Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada
In this workshop, experience the vibrant colors and stunning landscapes of Nevada’s Valley of Fire State Park. Located just an hour from Las Vegas, this park is a paradise for photographers.
You’ll have the opportunity to capture the fiery red and pink rock formations made from Aztec sandstone, along with ancient petroglyph rock carvings and panoramic hiking trails.
Enjoy a full day of photography, capturing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets that transform the landscape into a sea of color.
Photo Workshops to Empower Foster Youth
Enroll in any of our Digital Photo Academy back-to-back August photo workshops, and we will donate 50% of your purchase ($75) to support youth in foster care to the nonprofit Communities for People.
For every back-to-back signup in August, we’ll donate half of your fee to Communities for People, a nonprofit that provides programs and services to foster youth in the greater Boston area and the state of Rhode Island. (Buy our back-to-back workshop for $150, and $75 goes to Communities for People.)
They offer services such as foster care, counseling, wellness programs, and residential support to meet the needs of those they serve.
