The Mission District is an ever-changing community in San Francisco, dating back to the last century and before, as a generation defining locale. There are unending photo ops here and your Digital Photo Academy Instructor will demonstrate and supervise a variety of camera and composition strategies to maximize the photo experience.

Start with any of the old-world churches, first the exteriors from close-up and/or a short distance, directly in front of the structure, or off to the side, a worm’s eye view pasting the building flat against the sky or nuzzled within front plants and bordering edifices. There will be adequate discussion on the visual effect of all of these positioning options. From there, step inside the church and your instructor will help you to maximize creativity and manual camera control to capture the rich woodwork aglow from the natural light streaming in from windows. How about a silhouette of an individual standing in from of a stained glass window, brightened from the outside sun?

There are also many opportunities to capture people on the go, whether trendy shoppers, dog-walkers as well as outsiders who should be held in special regard. Again, your instructor will be a catalyst for approaching people to encourage them to be the subject of an environmental portrait in front of one of the many colorful wall paintings. You can text the model a copy of your photo if you like.

Call Digital Photo Academy at 1 877 372 2231. Lots of people seem to hang up if our welcome recording comes on instead of a live voice, but we promise to return your message within a day or two if you leave one with your name and number.  It would be even better if you included your e mail address as well as the date and city of the class you are considering.  If leaving a voice mail message is not your thing, please email us at DPAbooking@digitalphotoacademy.com.
