St Anthony’s of Padua is a spectacular structure with dramatic steeples on the outside and vaulted ceilings with stained glass windows on the inside. For a photographer, this translates to the art of silhouettes or of silhouetted profiles against a natural light streaming in from the windows, as well as bringing the rich glow of the wooden designs of an endless pattern of pews in the grand hall and throughout the space with nooks and crannies that spare no detail of loving attention in their handmade creations from over a hundred years ago.

All of the classic strategies of photographic composition apply when visiting St. Anthony’s of Padua and your DPA instructor will be there to demonstrate and supervise. You’ll find that the composition technique of leading lines will turn a lackluster snapshot into a compelling portfolio worthy image. Inevitably, you will find or deliberately place a workshop co-participant or even the instructor, within the classic rule of thirds position on one of the benches that is bathed in natural light streaming down from one of the huge church windows along the walls of the church.

Whether or not you are a member of the St Anthony’s of Padua congregation, it’s religion affiliation, or any religious affiliation at all, your photographing experience at this location is a memorable one enhanced by the friendly staff of the church, a number of whom will be willing to pose while attired in their religious garb.

Use this workshop experience to hone your understanding of a number of different composition strategies that will allow you to see a particular three-dimensional setting in many different ways. Each of the composition approaches are easy to learn and lay a foundation for you to evolve as a photographer and develop your own signature style of taking pictures. The lessons learned during this session will provide a rich tool of options which you can select at all times in the future when you are taking pictures  whether its family gatherings, traveling in the neighborhood, or across the globe.

Lots of people seem to hang up if our welcome recording comes on instead of a live voice, but we promise to return your message within a day or two if you leave one with your name and number.  It would be even better if you included your e mail address as well as the date and city of the class you are considering.  If leaving a voice mail message is not your thing, please email us at DPAbooking@digitalphotoacademy.com or Richard@digitalphotoacademy.com.
