All Day Or Half Day Private Class — $675 or $375
All Day Or Half Day Private Class–$675 or $375
This class is for a private group of 1 to 6 people.
Camera Discussion / In-the-Field Shoot / Post Capture Session
Digital Photo Academy instructors are available to accommodate personal schedules and provide a full day (5 hours) of instruction tailored to the needs of individual parties. A half-day (3 hours) option is also available.
Typically, the session begins with a discussion about the student’s specific camera equipment and photographic needs. This leads into an in-the-field shoot that aligns with the student’s photography goals. The shoot can focus on Landscape, Portrait, Architecture, or other categories based on the student’s interests.
The private session concludes with a demonstration of various post-capture workflow tasks. The time allotted to each section of the course will vary depending on the student’s needs and the length of the session purchased. Both class options include a meal, scheduled according to the student’s preference.
Additional hours can be booked at $125 per hour. The fee remains the same whether you attend alone or bring friends or family members to share the cost.
Camera Discussion
Are you in the market for a new camera, or do you already own one that you plan to use long-term?
Your instructor will help you better understand your camera’s settings and explore its capabilities. Should you shoot in JPEG or RAW? What image size is best for your needs—whether for a website, a large print, or social media?
If you have a specific photographic interest—such as flowers, landscapes, wildlife, portraits, sports, natural light, or studio lighting—this information will help the instructor guide you in using your camera effectively, including relevant lenses and accessories.
In-the-Field Shooting
Your instructor has extensive experience with in-the-field shooting and, in some cases, can provide private access to venues not typically available to the public.
Even if exclusive access isn’t necessary, you may still benefit from expert guidance while photographing at locations like a zoo, an arboretum, or a historic mansion. If sports photography interests you, many Digital Photo Academy instructors shoot for city newspapers and may have ideas or access to local competitions where you can practice.
No matter your preferred photography genre—nature and wildlife, street photography, studio portraiture, and more—your instructor will customize the class experience to match your interests. Your private class will take place at a location that aligns with your passion.
In addition, your instructor will teach you an array of techniques to help you capture portfolio-worthy images. While composition is an art form that allows you to develop your unique style, your instructor will share classic techniques to help bring your creative vision to life in the final image.
Post Capture
After learning techniques for creating compelling images, an essential part of the photographic process is organizing your body of work for easy retrieval and sharing.
At this stage of the session, your instructor will help you analyze your images to identify patterns in your shooting style. Do you rely on a particular perspective? Do you tend to place subjects in specific areas of the frame? Do you prefer close-up shots or wider compositions? Recognizing these tendencies will help you either refine your style or explore new approaches in future photography.
In today’s digital world, many common mistakes or limitations can be adjusted in post-processing. Was the lighting too flat or too harsh? Did you miss the ideal framing and wish you had chosen a better angle? This session will include a selection of images shot that day, with demonstrations of various Photoshop adjustments to enhance them.
