Amanda Deutsch

Amanda Deutsch is a dynamic photographer with a deep passion for storytelling through imagery. Originally from a small town in Canada, Amanda’s love for photography began early, capturing scenes from her surroundings and developing her own pictures. Whether photographing 1930s historic churches, small-town scenery, or the shifting seasons of Alberta, she developed a keen eye for the beauty in everyday life.

Amanda’s adventurous spirit led her to travel internationally at a young age, and her time spent in Cuba, alongside visitors from Spain and Russia, sparked her curiosity and expanded her perspective on the world, further fueling her passion for photographing diverse cultures and environments. Moving to Denver felt like a natural progression—similar to Alberta in some ways—but it opened doors for even more travel throughout the U.S. She explored the Midwest, including Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, as well as the West Coast, from Oregon to California and Washington. These travels not only deepened her connection to diverse landscapes but also enriched her photography, allowing her to capture the wide range of natural beauty and human experiences she encountered.

Her photography captures the human experience at every stage of life. With a special affinity for childhood and family portraits, Amanda brings energy and vitality to her work, drawing from the magical perspective of youth.

Amanda’s work has garnered recognition in the photography community, including being named the Overall Top Winner at the Red Rocks VAMA Showcase in 2024 and earning the Colorado Best Graduate Portfolio award from the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) in the same year. She is also an active member of professional organizations such as CPAC and ASMP, with her photography featured in various publications and billboards.

With over a decade of experience, Amanda’s journey through event photography and celebrity portraiture has exposed her to exciting and unexpected opportunities, each fueling her passion for capturing the unique energies of the world around her. Now, her rich experiences not only continue to inform her personal work but also provide her with a wealth of knowledge to teach and inspire others in their own photographic journeys.

  1. The workshop on Saturday was awesome. Amanda is so knowledgeable and patient. I will recommend your course to anyone who is interested in learning more about their camera and how to compose a photo with great results. I still have a lot to learn, but I know that what I learned from this course, I’ve got the right information to move forward.

    Thank you!

  2. Amanda provided us with a perfect start! She is highly knowledgeable and personable. I greatly appreciated her ability to introduce concepts and processes in ways that were tailored for Jo and me to understand. She also customized the course to what Jo and I needed to learn. I especially appreciated her kindness, patience, and humility—refreshing traits for a seasoned professional.

The class location was perfect. We had a nice spot to sit down together in a common area that facilitated our discussion of Carl Finkbeiner’s excellent guide and all the additional tips, tricks, and traps that Amanda needed to teach us. The surrounding area was full of interesting places to facilitate our composition class.

I recommend providing some information about parking near the meeting spot. I found a nice $10/day (for weekends) parking garage nearby. Pay parking on the street is a pain because most/all of the spots have a 2 hour limit. Some parking garages are $15/day.

I’ll send some photos from our class when I get a chance to download them.

I know I have so much more to learn in the days, months, and years ahead. I look forward to turning to the resources that National Digital Photo Academy has to offer. What a tremendous service!

    Kind regards,

    Mike

  3. Amanda,
