Back in 1987, Mayor Harold Washington launched a design/building competition amongst architectural firms and 4 years later, what was once an asphalt parking lot, opened to the public as the Harold Washington Library Center.

Today, the photo ops, interior and exterior, abound beginning with a great horned owl, nose in a book, to greet you 20 feet above the entrance of the building. If it is chilly or windy, you can snap a few perspective angles of the owl and quickly enter to an array of interior photographic opportunities, easy-to-learn composition strategies demonstrated and supervised by your Digital Photo Academy Instructor.

You will encounter a number of art installations worthy of your efforts as well, hanging from the ceiling, planted on the floor or hanging on the walls. Your photograph can combine juxtaposed objects to create colorful abstract photographs.
