Jonathan Martine
Jonathan has years and years of experience as a professional photographer and teacher, but his passion and learning began in childhood. What began as a hobby started to shift into something more after friends began asking him to take their engagement photos, party photos, and even weddings. “After a while,” he says, “I started to say to myself, maybe I’m halfway decent at this,” and his freelance work has really taken off in the last few years.
His portfolio includes images from cities across the U.S., including Los Angeles, Phoenix, Chicago, New York City—with a particular emphasis on the Hudson Valley. He’s done engagements, gender reveals, weddings, and more (examples of which can be seen at https://www.prcess.com/people).
Jonathan’s work includes architectural photography, landscapes, and candid portraits—subjects he’s particularly passionate about—but his skills extend across a wide range of photographic styles and subjects.
His approach is to stay candid and true to life, capturing the essence of a moment through visual storytelling. He strives to frame each shot like a movie scene, with a focus on honesty and atmosphere.

Both classes were great, and Johnathan provided amazing instruction. There were many unique and interesting places to take photos of both inside and outside the mansion. My personal favorites included the hill overlooking the Hudson River, and the dining room.
I personally don’t think the time we spent inside limited my capacity to have a learning experience about taking photographs. The course focused on manual shooting, and I think the site provided a unique site to experiment with my camera’s setting. Every room had its own unique lighting and vibe, and that constantly had me adjusting and experimenting with my settings. This allowed me to really understand the relationship between the settings of my camera.
Outside was also beautiful. We primarily kept to a hill behind the mansion, and shot photos of the building, trees, and River. I really enjoyed getting to photograph the area, and loved using the hill to create different perspectives.
All in all, I really enjoyed my time taking these courses. As someone with a background/training in film/video production, I was in a unique amateur position with photography. Photography was something I picked up as a hobby, and I only just got a DSLR about a year ago. My current role with the City of Newburgh requires photography, and a need to “iron out” those skills.
These courses really helped me in taking what I know about video, and transfer/understand how those skills can be used in photography. I also feel much more confident now that I have a more complete baseline understanding.
Thank you so much, and have a wonderful day.
