Venue Description:

The King William Historic District offers a rich blend of architecture, culture, and texture that makes it a favorite location for photographers of all levels. Nestled along the San Antonio River, this 19th-century neighborhood is known for its grand Victorian homes, ornate facades, and lush oak-shaded streets.

During this workshop, your instructor will guide you through capturing the district’s character—from wide shots of historic mansions to intimate details like wrought-iron fences, pastel-painted doors, and the warm patina of aging brick. The area’s eclectic mix of German, Greek Revival, and Italianate architecture provides an excellent opportunity to explore symmetry, leading lines, and composition techniques.

We’ll also take advantage of the river walk paths and nearby bridges, perfect for photographing reflections, vanishing points, and candid street scenes. The mix of historic charm and contemporary life creates a dynamic environment for visual storytelling.

If you join us in the early morning or late afternoon, you’ll work with golden light filtering through the trees, adding mood and warmth to your shots. Your instructor will provide on-the-spot guidance to help you experiment with exposure, framing, and creative perspectives that bring out the soul of this unique neighborhood.

Call Digital Photo Academy at 1 877 372 2231. Lots of people seem to hang up if our welcome recording comes on instead of a live voice, but we promise to return your message within a day or two if you leave one with your name and number.  It would be even better if you included your e mail address as well as the date and city of the class you are considering.  If leaving a voice mail message is not your thing, please email us at DPAbooking@digitalphotoacademy.com.
