Workshop Description:
The Moodna Viaduct, a striking historic railroad bridge nestled in the picturesque Hudson Valley, provides a stunning setting for capturing the Milky Way.
During this workshop, you’ll learn how to photograph the Milky Way against the viaduct’s iconic steel arches. Under the guidance of your Digital Photo Academy instructor, explore different techniques to capture clear, detailed shots of the night sky.
Enrich your composition by integrating elements like trees, rocks, or the tranquil creek below, enhancing depth and context. Frame the viaduct against the night sky to create striking silhouettes that emphasize the cosmic wonders above. Or, apply the rule of thirds to strategically position the viaduct’s arches or the Milky Way along gridlines, ensuring a harmonious and visually appealing composition.
Long-exposure photography techniques will also be your ally in revealing the intricate details of the Milky Way’s luminous arms and distant star clusters.
This workshop is designed for photographers of all skill levels who are eager to explore the art of astrophotography in a unique and historical setting.

Travel Information:
The Digital Photo Academy headquarters is conveniently located just a 60-minute car ride or an 80-minute train ride from New York City’s Grand Central Station on the Metro North/Poughkeepsie Line along the picturesque Hudson River.
The headquarters are also accessible from a number of other northeastern cities and by air, with Stewart Airport located just 20 minutes away.
If you’re not driving to DPA headquarters, DPA management can arrange to collect and deliver you to Beacon train station, which is 10 minutes away. Ask us about other travel arrangements.
