Pershing Square
Pershing square is a public park in downtown Los Angeles, exactly one square block in size, bounded by 5th Street to the north, 6th Street to the south, Hill Street to the east, and Olive Street to the west.
The park started as a tent camp in the 1850s, then became a traditional Spanish plaza after 1866. It was home to recruitment rallies during WWII, and today it features fountains, public art works, a concert stage, a seasonal ice rink, and small plazas with seating. The park is interspersed with paved expanses, a grassy area, and various trees in raised planters.
Pershing Square tends to attract members of Los Angeles’ transient population, and they share the park with dog walkers, locals, and the occasional tourist. The square is within walking distance to many other great photographic locations including the jewelry district, the financial district, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Angles Flight, skid row, and city hall.
This is a perfect class for someone who wants to learn more about outdoor photography. Learn photographic framing techniques as nature interacts with different architectural elements throughout the park. Learn how to use natural light as a photographic tool while taking pictures of the people you will meet around the park and its surrounding neighborhoods.
Please bring your fully charged digital camera, and any other photographic equipment you would like to use. Please dress for the weather and wear your most comfortable shoes.
Call Digital Photo Academy at 1 877 372 2231. Lots of people seem to hang up if our welcome recording comes on instead of a live voice, but we promise to return your message within a day or two if you leave one with your name and number. It would be even better if you included your e mail address as well as the date and city of the class you are considering. If leaving a voice mail message is not your thing, please email us at [email protected] or [email protected].
